A newlywed couple with a baby on the way desired to expand their well-appointed 1930s bungalow without sacrificing the backyard, an increasingly rare amenity even in the oak-lined neighborhood of Cherryhurst in Houston. Forgoing a garage in favor of living area, we not only preserved but extended the foliage around the addition and infused the interior with geometric florals in a lush blue and green palette. The floral motif is celebrated in the project’s namesake conservatory as the connection to the addition and the landscape. As the role of architect, interior designer and landscape designer, we approached this project as a total work of art.
